  • are unpaid professionals providing fire protection and medical care to area residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • save tax dollars by doing the job for free

Cost of Additional Training

Many firefighters take additional classes to advance their training. Much of this training is voluntary and is all paid out of Belltown's yearly operating budget.

Fire Instructor I - 56 Hours - $230
Safety and Survival - 10 Hours - $95
Flashover Safety and Survival - 8 hours - $95
Aerial Ops - 48 Hours - $210
Q Endorsement (to drive fire apparatus) - 32 Hours (plus hours of bfd required training) - $200
Pump Operator - 48 Hours - $210
Basic Pump Operator - 16 Hours - $60
Emergency Vehicle Operator - 4 Hours - $50

Efforts For the Community

  • Fire Saftey presentations to children, including local elementary and nursery schools
  • Assist local middle school with "egg drop" science project
  • Yearly collection for the Salvation army normally collecting approximately $4-5,000
  • Basement pump outs during large storms
  • Volunteers collected funds for Katrina Hurricane Relief Fund

How a Volunteer Fire Department Saves Tax Money
